I THOUGHT I COULD NOT SEE THE LIGHT AGAIN, BUT MUSIC CHANGED THAT FOR ME. (story from a member at EYDC )

Elgon Youth Development Centre Uganda

It was 23nd December 2009 when I left home in Tororo and came to live on the streets of Mbale Eastern Uganda; I lost both my parents, who died of Aids. First it was my mother who died in 2007 and later my father in 2009 and this is when my life started shattering down, it made me believe that I could not see the light again. I stayed with my uncle for sometime but life was hard…

The art from China arrives in Los Angeles, California

We received a huge package from our partner class in Chengdu, China! Not only was there art, but every child in their English class also made a personal poster and wrote a letter in English. My class of 32 sixth graders (age 11-12 years old) was very impressed. They especially enjoyed reading about the Chinese students' likes and dislikes.

After we sent our art off last November, we studied about ancient China. We tried making bamboo in the traditional Chinese…

Pupils enjoying the challenge

We are hoping to be complete very soon. The children have really enjoyed all aspects of the project, and analysing the art work gave way to some very insightful comments. It made me feel very proud of them! There has been some fantastic debate surrounding some of the notions of values.

Mailed

The students from North Andover Middle School have completed their artwork. I must say it was a challenge to encourage the students to create large images so they could be easily seen. The follow-up discussions regarding the values and depiction of water were very informative. We are looking forward to hearing from our partner country real soon!

Welcome

We are very excited to learn about our partner country-JAPAN! We have begun working with the art teacher as we create pastel drawings of our culture and how water is used.

Working Hard

Students at the North Andover Middle School, from North Andover MA are working together to create their art work. We are struggling to meet the deadline, but have reworked our schedule to fit time in. The students on teams 6C and 6F have had some very interesting conversation regarding values and our culture. We are all looking forward to reviewing the final products!
